Mexico City, October 15, 2025. – Having clean energy generated in Mexico is essential for industries and companies to operate sustainably and comply with rules of origin that promote national development. The “Made in Mexico” distinction, granted by the Ministry of Economy and relaunched in 2025 as part of the Plan México, reaffirms the productive sector’s commitment to quality, innovation, and local manufacturing, strengthening value chains and contributing to the country’s economic growth.
In this context, the Ministry of Economy awarded the “Made in Mexico” distinction to Zuma Energía, one of the leading private renewable energy generators in Mexico, in recognition of its contribution to sustainable development, its efforts to boost industrial and business competitiveness, and its work to improve the quality of life in communities.
The award ceremony took place during the World Solar Energy Forum in Hermosillo, Sonora, and was attended by Diana León, Head of Energy at the Ministry of Economy; Oscar Gastelum, General Director of the Hermosillo Municipal Agency for Economic Development; José Eduardo Robledo, President of the Sonora Cluster; Alberto Robles, Director of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality at Zuma Energía; and Socorro Lizárraga, Procurement Manager at Zuma Energía.
“This recognition reflects Zuma Energía’s commitment to Mexico’s economic growth through clean energy generated in Mexico for Mexico, integrating local suppliers into our value chain and promoting the well-being of communities and employees,” said Alberto Robles.
Zuma Energía produces clean energy in Mexico for Mexico. It currently operates six solar parks and two wind farms with a total installed capacity of 1.3 GW across five states: Oaxaca, Tamaulipas, Sonora, Chihuahua, and Jalisco. As one of the country’s main private clean energy producers, Zuma Energía contributes to strengthening Mexico’s energy sovereignty, allocating more than half of its generation to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and the remainder to companies participating in the Wholesale Electricity Market.
The generation from its wind and solar farms prevents the emission of over 1.5 million tons of CO₂ per year. Since its founding in 2014, Zuma Energía has invested in education, health, environmental, and community development projects. In 2024 alone, the company benefited more than 2,000 people through entrepreneurship workshops, health campaigns, reforestation programs, and technical training in renewable energy.
As part of its social responsibility and economic development strategy, Zuma Energía integrates more than 230 local suppliers into its value chain, supports scholarship programs in STEM fields, promotes specialized training and employability in collaboration with local institutions such as ICATECH, and reinforces its commitment to energy transition, sustainability, and socio-economic growth.
With the “Made in Mexico” distinction, Zuma Energía reaffirms its commitment to generating clean energy, strengthening regional development, and contributing to the country’s sustainable growth.
